Every goat here is very dear to us, from the beginning
of it's life to the end. It is our wish that you are happy with the purchase
of your new goat. We want you and your new goat to have a pleasant transition. While we do not ask you to spoil the animals
as we do, we do ask that it be given a quality life with all it's basic needs provided.
We only sell goats to people for dairy/show/pets, they are NOT for meat. We
do require that you have at least two goats as they are very social herd animals and will be lonely by itself. Therefore
we are willing to sell a wether at a very reduced price as a companion for any goat we sell. So please consider this when
purchasing a goat from us. We recommend first time buyers to read our Basic Goat Care page.
When you purchase a goat from us it will
be a social, happy, & healthy animal. Along with the new goat(s) you will receive a new owner package that includes: a
detailed record of your goats birth & health info, registration papers/application , AGS pamphlet, Basic Care information
guide, and feed & mineral samples. (We do not supply registration applications to wethers unless they are requested
as 95% are never registered. If you would like registration forms with your wether please ask and we will have them ready
when goat is picked up.)
We also extend our invitation to keep in
touch with updates, questions, concerns, or comments that you may have afterwards. Please feel free to contact us and we will
help you the best we can to resolve any matter you may have. We are sorry but we cannot be responsible for the health of our
goats once they leave our premises. The stress of moving & other environmental factors can have unpredictable affects
on animals, especially young goat kids. If a vet finds the fault of this animal to have resulted from our care, we will work
with you to resolve this matter. But for our herd's protection, we cannot accept a goat back after it has left Laurel
Haven.
Health
We strive to maintain healthy goats. Our
goats are very special to us and their health is first priority. We have purchased our Nigerian Dwarf goats through conscientious
breeders that test and have as high health standards as we do.
All our goats are vet checked regularly.
Our entire herd is CAE, TB, Brucellosis, Johnes, & CL (abcess)Negative. We do have the lab tests reports
to prove this and are very proud of our negative results!
Our animals are up-to-date on CD/T
immunizations, deworming, and have regular maintenance grooming. We do tattoo our kids & we have our kids disbudded by
our vet before reaching 12 days old.
We allow our kids to be dam raised. All
of our does are healthy, CAE negative, and wonderful mommies. We feel this is natures way and our kids are very people friendly
either way. Our kids are handled regularly by our whole family and are very social and adapted to children & adults. In
other words, just down right spoiled with TLC. But if you would perfer bottled raised, for other reasons it is possible with
arrangements made in advance. The kids will be weaned around 8 weeks old and kept here an additional week just as preventative
measures after being fully weaned.
All kids should be ready to leave here by
10 weeks old. We deeply care for these kids and have their best interests at heart. We hope that all kids that leave here
are cared for with a strict health routine so they can continue to grow & mature into beautiful healthy adults.
For a peek at our goat management practices please refer to our Basic Goat Care page. We highly recommend it to be read by first time goat owners. While it only gives you the basic ideas of how
we care for our goats, we hope it gives you a good start in your goat raising.
Reservations & Sales
We do accept reservations on Laurel Haven kids. We do not require a deposit to
be added to our waiting list for kid requests. If you would like to be added to this list please contact us to place
your reservation.
Once added to our waiting list, interested parties will be contacted as our kids are born. You
are not obligated in anyway to choose the kid. You will have 5 days to notify me on whether
you want this paticular kid or not. After 5 days I will offer that kid to the next person on the list.
If you do choose the kid at that time a $100 non-refundable deposit must be recieved within
10 days and will be required to hold the kid as "Sale Pending" until it is age appropriate (8-10 weeks old) to leave
Laurel Haven. If kid is not picked up by 13 weeks of age, that kid will be back up for sale and buyer loses deposit.
For sales of adult goats or goats over 4 months old) we will require a non-refundable
deposit of 1/3 the sale price of that goat. Which will hold that goat for you for 30 days until pick up arrangements can be
made. After 30 days a boarding fee of $2.00 per day will apply. If after 45 days the goat is still not picked up by the buyer
the goat will be placed back up for sale and buyer will lose deposit.
If buyer should decide to not go through with the sale (back out) once deposit is received, the
buyer will forfeit their deposit as it is non-refundable. Now if for any reason we should decide to not go through with
a sale (goat becomes unsellable due to illness, death or we just change our mind), the buyer will get their deposit back from
us.
The remaining balance must be paid in full before the goat leaves the premises. This includes the cost
of the animal, transportation fees and boarding fees if any, and any additional fees for veterinary test or health exam
certificates if required. While we do accept checks for deposits as they have time to clear, we will not accept checks
at time of pick up.
Please ask if you have any questions pertaining to our sales policy.
Transport
We would prefer animals to be picked
up here. But air & ground shipping arrangements can be made at the expense of the buyer. We can help with the arrangements
and have experience air shipping animals.
Two kids can usually be air shipped for
the cost of one. The cost of air transport is around $300. As it will cost depending on weight, $200 by American
Airlines (AA Cargo), plus the cost of a crate $40-$50, and up to $50 for a health certificate depending on tests required
for your state. We do charge a very small gas transport fee for loaded-milage to the Airport as it is over 60 miles from
our home. We ship out of Charlotte Douglas International Airport in NC. We have used AA successfully in the past and
are very happy with their service. I have a PAL shipping number through them as I have air transported goats in
the past from as far North as ME to as far West as CO. We have Laurel Haven kids spread across this country... Please
contact us for more details.
If transportation is a problem, we may
be willing to help by delivering (driving) the goat to you, or meeting part way within a resonable distance.
Every Spring we make a trip
from SC to PA to pick up & deliver goats up North and along our route. We do charge a $100 transport fee for the
first goat and $25 for each additonal animal, to cover expenses, (crates, certificates, feed & rising gas prices.)
If we are picking up an animal for you from another farm it must come with a clean bill of health, (free of any and all diseases-
CAE, CL, TB, Johnes, & Burcellosis) before we will accept it for transport. Also a hands on exam will
be performed before such animal enters our vehicle. We hope you can understand our bio-security standards are to protect our
own animals. We have limited room so please make arrangements with us in advance if you need transport assistance. We would
be happy to help you with your transport needs at this low rate, as we know how pricey ground transport can get, we have been
there. The dates for the transport trip will be posted this Spring, but it is normally in late May.
If you have any questions please email us
or call us, that information can be found on our Contact Us page.
